LG And Stars Help Broadway Go Green With Energy Efficient Washers And Dryers

As a sponsor of the Official Talent Gift Lounge backstage at the 64th annual Tony Awards, LG electronics helped the Great White Way go green. For every star of the stage and screen who visited the Lounge, LG donated an ultra energy efficient washer and dryer to a Broadway theater.
Forty-five celebrities showed up including Tony Award winners Scarlett Johansson and Viola Davis as well as Helen Mirren, Sean Hayes, Nathan Lane, Raquel Welch, Kristen Chenoweth, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Mark Sanchez, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ricky Martin, Matthew Morrison, Paula Abdul, Chris Noth, David Hyde Pierce, and the band Green Day.
Keeping in mind that, on average, a Broadway theater does 6 loads of laundry a day, LG estimates that the theaters will save 146,000 Kilowatt hours of electricity and 1.5 million gallons of water each year with a total monetary savings of $23,000 annually.
While in the Lounge, stars were asked to autograph a t-shirt made from recycled bottles which asked, “Whose dirty laundry would you want to wash?” Paula Abdul chose Simon Cowell as her answer while Laura Bell Bundy thought Jesse James’ laundry needed a good washing.
