WWF boat is powered by photovoltaic panels on its roof.

The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) has left no stone unturned to save wildlife. This time around, the leading wildlife and endangered species conservation organization is looking towards renewable energy to make a difference. As part of WWF Spain’s new ‘Embárcate’ campaign, the organization plans an eco-tour along the Mediterranean coastline for the next three summers. A 46-foot solar boat will visit Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) such as the Cap de Creus Canyon and as other important Mediterranean coastal areas.

The WWF Solar is completely powered by solar energy and has zero carbon emissions. Its 65-sqm roof is covered with photovoltaic panels that give it enough power to travel at an average speed of 5 knots. It can run for 90 nautical miles straight, essentially two full nights of sailing or around 18 hours, when its batteries are fully charged. This green initiative looks like WFF’s effort to promote both greater use of renewable energy and conservation of marine ecosystems.

This is so cool! I want to ride on this solar powered boat. Looks like a lot of fun.

Kiedy lata się samolotami i mieszka w ogromnym pałacu, to zachęcanie ludzi, by jeździli rowerami i oszczędzali wodę brzmi jak kpina.
Wymagając od innych trzeba także wymagać tego samego od siebie.
